Socrates: The Father of Western Philosophy

Socrates, a classical Greek philosopher, is credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy and the Socratic method. His approach to ethics and epistemology laid the groundwork for much of Western thought. Socrates is best known for his dialectical method of inquiry, which involved asking probing questions to stimulate critical thinking and illuminate ideas. Despite his significant contributions to philosophy, Socrates left no written works; our knowledge of his teachings comes primarily from the accounts of his students, such as Plato. His commitment to seeking truth and challenging societal norms continues to inspire philosophers and thinkers to this day.
